Thursday, June 3rd, I had the honor of being inducted into the Tacoma Athletic Commission Hall of Fame. With over 900 in attendance it was an honor to be included in this wonderful fraternity of past athletic greats and to have my name written on the tablets of the history of Tacoma athletics. One of the highlights for me was sharing the evening with the Huard family from Puyallup who were honored as the Family of the Year in Sports. They have served well the community of Puyallup. Mike and Peg have been educators in the community for 30 years and Mike has enjoyed great coaching success (state championships, etc) and the opportunity to impact 100’s of young men’s lives. Their sons (Damon, Brock, and Luke) have gone on to the NFL, ESPN, and the college coaching ranks. I have had the privilege of mentoring these men in their younger years.
