““No matter what our circumstances, we can find a reason to be thankful.”
DR. DAVID JEREMIAH
On Friday, January 16th I was declared cancer free. I hadn’t given those words much thought, or had I? When my fantastic doctor spoke those words to me, I felt a “thousand pounds” lift from me.
There are times we need close friends and family to remind us of who we are. We think we know ourselves well, but do we? When you think you’re fine, then feel the weight of stress leave you, then you’re not ok. So, you take a step back and you begin to assess relationships, finances, schedules, and your physical and spiritual health. It is a process and coming out on the other side can be fruitful and painful and exhilarating and it can be life-giving. Biblically speaking, it is sanctification. It is becoming more like Jesus, and it is a way to reflect His beauty to a desperate world “looking for love in all of the wrong places.”
Four days after my doctor’s declaration I traveled with my dear friend to Montgomery, Alabama to speak to 350 men. I had been asked by a friend to come. God was very kind and affirming to me as I was well received by all. As a result, I have already been
connecting with a number of the men who attended that evening. At 72 years old, it is sweet to the soul when God affirms that Heis not done with you yet. My friend Mitch said, “Even wounded warriors can be lethal!” Don’t be afraid to be lethal for good.
“He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.”
PSALM 112:7
